Verizon Sponsors Summer 'Speakeasy' Series at The Museum of the City of New York

NEW YORK, July 29 /PRNewswire/ -- New York City music- and dance-lovers are invited to head over to The Museum of the City of New York where Verizon is sponsoring The Speakeasy at 1220 Fifth Ave. every Wednesday until Aug.18.  The Speakeasy summer series features live music and cocktails on the museum's Fifth Avenue Terrace. The series is held in recognition of New York City's history during the 1920s, when thousands of speakeasy establishments opened for dancing, singing and entertainment. This Wednesday, August 4th, dance the night away to the music of Michael Arenella and His Dreamland Orchestra.

In addition to the 1920s-themed after-work events, visitors can also view the museum's special exhibitions including the "America's Mayor: John Lindsay, and the reinvention of New York" exhibit, which takes a new look at the economic shifts, growing civil rights movements, opposition to the Vietnam War and other transformations that took place in New York during Lindsay's mayoralty.
